Fabrice Benard, CEO of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad, highlights the importance of comprehensive motor and home insurance coverage to mitigate the financial burden and facilitate swift recovery. He said, “It only takes one incident to burn a hole in the pocket, and often unexpected events can come and take us by surprise. The role of insurance is to safeguard people from unforeseen events and is not just a ‘good to have’. It is important to regularly review our coverage and adequately insure our biggest investments in life against any potential risks caused by explosion, fire or other related incidents to ensure financial protection and peace of mind.”

Many homeowners only insure their homes against fire and other perils because it is a compulsory requirement under their housing loan, whereas properties with strata titles such as flats, apartments and condominiums are usually insured under a master fire policy by the Management Corporation. However, many are unaware that this only covers the building or common areas, and not the home contents or belongings. Hence, it is recommended to ensure home contents coverage to protect belongings and valuables against any unprecedented peril.

Additionally, it is crucial to have comprehensive motor insurance coverage and other relevant add-ons to protect against similar fire or explosion incidents. During this challenging period, Generali Malaysia will be providing coverage for all eligible Generali’s Private Car Comprehensive insurance or Third Party, Fire and Theft policyholders affected by this unfortunate incident.
